You are the centre of attention
Student-centred. Our small class sizes offer effective one-on-one interaction with faculty. Mutual respect and shared accountability characterize student / faculty relationships. Educational approaches accommodate diverse learning styles. Flexible delivery options let you take programs on campus, in the community and through print-based distance or online delivery.
Practice-focused. We equip you with the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes to function independently in today's complex health care environment. Our nursing graduates consistently exceed Canada's average pass rate on national licensure examinations - and have gone on to build careers in front-line care, education, research, leadership and management.
You take care of others, we take care of you. Our nursing students have access to a wide range of SIAST support services. Go to Student Services for information on counselling, child care, health services and more. Check out Learning Services for refresher courses and help with time management, study skills and exam anxiety. Explore Scholarships, Bursaries & Awards and the Ministry of Health Saskatchewan Health Bursary Program. Visit Aboriginal Student Activity Centres for access to tutors, Elders, cultural advisors and cultural activities. Nursing Education Program of Saskatchewan (NEPS) can also access a variety of services through the Native Access Program to Nursing (NAPN).
Have the time of your life. SIAST nursing students are part of a vibrant community with its own social and recreational life. Take part in recreational intramurals, fitness classes or strength training. Take advantage of on-campus social opportunities. Take time to champion a cause or expand your social network through student clubs. Get moving, get mingling, get in involved in Student Life!
Build your network. Empower your own success - join Nursing The Future (NTF) and become part of a growing network of new nurses. NTF began right here in Saskatchewan. Today, it is a nation-wide, non-profit organization dedicated to guiding newly graduated nurses as you make the transition from nursing student to professional nurse.
"I walked into the lab and there were only seven students and a facilitator. We talked about applying theory to practice and shared personal experiences and discoveries, personal weaknesses and strengths," she says. "It was a real opportunity."
